One of the programs that we're particularly interested trying to hear is called the HELP program, the Hospital Elder Life Care Program, which was developed by Sharon Inouye at Yale. It targets risk factors for delirium, like immobility, feeding and hydration, sleep, visual problems and hearing problems, and develops specific protocols for each risk factor. These are carried out then by a team, mostly of volunteers, directed by a nurse specialist and a life care specialist.
