Up RGI Email in Outlook Express
Radio Gate offers a simple
web mail interface for you to retrieve your RGI
Email. But it is also possible for you to access
your email through your primary email application
at your home or office. Although the following instructions
are specific to Microsoft Outlook Express, most
email applications use a similar set of steps to
connect you to your mail server.
To set up your RGI
Email:
- In Outlook Express go to
the Tools menu and choose "Accounts".
Make sure the "Mail" tab is selected.
- Now click the "Add"
button, and slide your cursor over "Mail..."
and click. A Connection Wizard will start.
- Enter the name you would
like to have displayed on your email. Click
"Next".
- Enter your email address
(ex. yourname@radiogate.com). Click "Next"
- Make sure "Incoming
Mail Server" is set to POP3 (the default).
- Set both incoming and outgoing
mailservers to: "mailserver.radiogate.com"
(without the quotes). Click "Next".
- Fill in your account name
(ex. yourname@radiogate.com), and your password.
Make sure you include your user name AND
your domain name in the account field. Click
"Next", then the "Finish"
button.
- If you would like this account
to be your default email account, go back to
the Tools menu, and choose "Accounts".
Select the account mailserver.radiogate.com
and then click on the "Set as Default"
button.
- If you are no longer planning
on using a previous account, you can select

Dealing
with Spam / Junk Mail
Radio Gate has implemented
DSPAM technology to help our clients deal with the
ever increasing annoyance of Spam and Junk mail.
DSPAM works by tagging all Spam mail in the subject
line with the tag [SPAM]. This
will help you to quickly identify and deal with
this unwanted mail. Typically you would setup your
mail tool to automatically move these messages to
a Spam folder, or if you just don’t want to
deal with this type of mail then you can have it
moved directly to your Trash folder.
Important: How to Report Spam
If you receive a junk mail that is not
tagged in the subject line, please forward the message
to spam@radiogate.com. This will
help DSPAM learn and mark future occurrences of
this message for all Radio Gate email users.
Important: How to Report Mistakenly Marked
Good Messages
If you receive a good message erroneously tagged
as [SPAM] in the subject line please contact Radio
Gate tech support at 610.358.6065 for instruction
on how to white list an e-mail address so that future
messages from that particular sender will not be
marked.

Filtering
Tagged [SPAM] Messages Most
of us would rather not even see the tagged [SPAM]
message and just get on with our day. You can setup
a filter in your e-mail tool to automatically move
the tagged messages. Below is the procedure depending
on what e-mail tool you use on a daily basis:
Moving Tagged [SPAM]
Messages in Outlook
If you are using Outlook
all you need to do is setup a "Mail Rule"
by doing the following:
- Select menu "Tools >
Rules Wizard" …
- Click on “Subject Line
Rule"
- Click on the line after “Apply
this rule after the message arrives with”
- Type in: [SPAM]
To Specify words or phrases to search for
in the subject line, click on ADD
Important: Type [SPAM]
exactly as it appears (6 characters all caps).
- Click on the line after “Move
it to the _____ folder” and select what
folder your want the Spam to automatically get
moved to. You may want to first make a folder
called "Bulk" and have the messages
get moved here. Or if you don’t want to
deal with the Spam at all, you can choose to
have them moved to your "Deleted Items"
folder.
- Special Note:
Before deleting the moved tagged messages in
bulk you should periodically scan them to ensure
none of your valid contacts sent mail that got
accidentally tagged. If this happened –
contacted Radio Gate tech support to get instructions
on how to white list an e-mail address.
I use Outlook but
I download too many Spam messages every day, and
although DSPAM helps, it's still time consuming.
What can I do?
If this is the case for you, and you would rather
not even download the marked SPAM messages in the
first place, then you need to follow the directions
below for moving tagged messages in SquirrelMail.
This will prevent you from having to download the
marked messages. However, by doing this you may
not be aware if a message got mistakenly marked
as Spam. So if your contacts claim they are sending
you mail and you are not getting it – you
will have to log into SquirrelMail to locate the
message and then call Radio Gate for instruction
on how to white list the message. IMPORTANT
NOTE: You must log in to your SquirrelMail
before downloading your e-mail into Outlook for
this to work.
